OUR VISION
Dell Medical School: Pre-Health and Distinguished Scholars is an undergraduate student organization aimed at empowering underserved communities through a variety of volunteer projects, mentorship, and community leadership. Through our interaction with undergraduate pre-health students of various backgrounds, we hope to provide valuable resources needed to pursue a career in any healthcare profession for our members.
WELCOME TO DMSPHDS!
A message from the Council:
Hello and welcome to the Dell Medical School Pre-Health and Distinguished Scholars! We do things different in our organization by uplifting and supporting first-generation pre-health students. As a DMSPHDS member, you will be among a group of scholars who are passionate about the health sciences and aspire to make a difference in the healthcare field. Our organization is open to students who have completed the UT Summer Chemistry Program through Dell Medical School.
Inter-organization
Mentorship
Our partnering Dell Medical Students serve as mentors to 1st and 2nd year members allowing for the open exchange of resources and knowledge valuable for any pre-health student. Having this mentorship aspect in our organization brings about productive relationships and connections that benefit both the mentor and the mentee.
Volunteer Work
Through our variety of volunteer opportunities, we seek to create a meaningful impact on the lives of many undeserved families in the Austin area. Some of our volunteer opportunities include working with the homeless populations at food pantries, teaching science at AISD schools, and engaging in community health through our partnership with Sickle Cell ATX.
Professional Development
Our members have access to a variety of pre-health conferences, medical school trips and pre-health workshops to allow for professional development and networking within the healthcare landscape. Members can qualify for Health Experiential Learning Opportunities (HELOs) by accumulating points through engagement in our events.
